University of Aveiro

Founded in 1973, the University of Aveiro (UAveiro) is a public foundation under private law and one of Portugal’s most innovative and dynamic higher education institutions.

With over 17,000 students, it offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and stands out for its research excellence, strong infrastructure, and close cooperation with society. Since 1998, UAveiro has been a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), a network of research-intensive institutions focused on innovation and societal impact, and with strong links to industry.

CIPES – Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies – is a research unit based in Portugal. It is one of the few research centres in Europe fully dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of higher education. CIPES conducts both fundamental and applied research on higher education systems, institutions, policies, and practices, often in comparative perspective. The centre contributes to national and international policy debates and is actively involved in various European projects related to education, employment, and social inclusion.
