In preparation of the upcoming interviews for the Next-UP project the UAB team visited CSI at University of Heidelberg. Lara and Victoria led the team at CSI through the procedures of the planned interviews. They presented not only the protocol in detail. The researchers discussed tricky questions of translating the protocol and sampling procedures.
An intensive debate about key concepts like “transition”, “precariousness”, and others contributed to consensus building. It will be crucial that the teams in the five participating countries are on the same page concerning methodology. Only then Next-UP project will be able to produces empirically grounded insights into perceptions of young people concerning education and training and their perspectives and expectations towards job markets.
125 longitudinal qualitative interviews will provide a sound for this. And today’s workshop at Heidelberg will be an important step towards this goal.
